The Main Thing

White Dials FTW 🙌

If you haven't figured it out yet, I love white dials. They're simple. I love simple things. Their brightness stands out. They say a lot without really saying a lot.

Today, we're checking out three white-dial watches that will make your jaw drop.

Cristopher Ward C65 Aquitaine Automatic

Since I began my watch journey, I was always drawn to Christopher Ward (CW) watches. Many of their watches are simple yet elegant. I have a simple brain and like simple things. CW is a UK-owned company, founded in 2004.

With Saint Patrick's Day last month, I thought I'd look for something simple, but with green. Here we have the C65 Aquitaine Automatic. At less than $1,000, this is a beautiful watch with some great features.

Cristopher Ward C65 Aquitaine Automatic ($975)

Some Specs:

Case Diameter: 41 mm

Thickness: 12.45 mm

Lug Width: 22 mm

Lug to Lug: 46.68 mm

Water Resistance: 200 m

Power Reserve: 38 hours

This may not be an everyday watch for me. While this green is tasteful and looks great, it's not for me. Even on the steel bracelet, it's just a little too loud.

Again, for a reasonable price, you're getting a Swiss-made watch with some solid specs. CW offers 60 days of free returns with a 60-month movement guarantee. They stand behind their products.

Okay, so you may be saying, "This isn't a white dial. It's 'white sand,' Ian!"

To that I say, "Close enough."

The next two watches have truly white dials and will blow your mind.

Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra 150M

This watch is on my shortlist to own. As I started learning about watches, I thought that Rolex was the be-all-end-all brand. A friend introduced me to Omega. Wow.

Again, I like simple watches. This Omega Aqua Terra 150 M is simple yet sexy. I prefer rubber straps to bracelets (most of the time). In the game of watches, Omega has some of the most comfortable.

Some Specs:

Case Diameter: 41 mm

Thickness: 13.2 mm

Lug Width: 20 mm

Lug to Lug: 47.9 mm

Water Resistance: 150 m

Power Reserve: 60 hours

This Swiss-made watch is master chronometer certified. It is COSC-certified and goes through additional testing for quality and accuracy. Read what this means and know that the accuracy is 0 to +5 seconds per day.

This watch gives you a date window and a gorgeous white dial with an orange seconds hand. It also allows you to move the hour hand without stopping the watch. This is great for you world travelers out there.

At $6k, this watch is not for everyone. It's certainly not for beginners. But if you want the highest-quality watch to keep in your family, this may be for you.

Rolex Explorer II

This watch. It's always been my holy grail of watches. At 12 years old, I saw it and fell in love. Of course, this is the Rolex Explorer II.

The brightness of the white dial, the pop of the orange GMT hand. The steel bezel. Chef's kiss

I'm not going to lie to you. It's not cheap. Like many Rolex watches, these sell for more than the retail price on the secondary/used market. For a new one, you have to deal with the Rolex waiting list nonsense.

Rolex Explorer II ($9,650)

Some Specs:

Case Diameter: 42 mm

Thickness: 12.5 mm

Lug Width: 22 mm

Lug to Lug: 50 mm

Water Resistance: 100 m

Power Reserve: 70 hours

Designers created this watch for spelunkers. These are people who explore caves. The 24-hour hand allows people to know whether it's day or night in the darkest places. I think it looks badass and I enjoy tracking a second time zone.

Believe it or not, this tends to be one of Rolex's more unpopular watches. It's big and heavy, but it can take a beating. With the Explorer II, you're getting a tank. It has a claimed accuracy of +2/-2 seconds of accuracy per day which will likely outlast you.

In Conclusion

White watch dials are just cool, plain, and simple. They're sleek, clean, and bright. They add a touch of class to any look, whether you're chilling with friends or attending a fancy event. Plus, they never really go out of style, so you'll always look fresh with a white dial on your wrist.

Which one of these would you pick?

Newsletter News

Where We’re Going

As I started this newsletter, I wasn't sure where to take it. Sure, I love watches. I've written other newsletters before but often fell out of interest with their topic. Watches are different. They're been a passion since I was a child.

I'd like to grow this newsletter to 500 subscribers by May 1. Then, I'd like to achieve 1,000 subscribers by the end of 2024.

Hitting 1,000 subscribers allows me to monetize through the newsletter platform. From there, I will pay for the upgraded plan to bring you more features in this newsletter. From there, who knows?!

Perhaps I'll write another book or start a podcast.

You'll begin seeing more themed content. Each week will have a rotation of topics with a recap at the end of every month.
